The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) was established in November,1989 as an autonomous organization in pursuance of National Policy on Education 1986 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. .
Equivalent to Class X, on Successful Completion of five subjects.
Higher Secondary Level
Equivalent to Class XII, subjects can be choosen.
The specially designed printed self instructional material for different subjects along with other support materials are provided to the learner by post at his/her given address.
It is recognised for admissions to highers in all colleges and universities.The NIOS Certificate is recognized in both Government and Private for purposes of employment.
The public-examinations are held twice a year in the month April-May & October- November. A student is eligible to appear in those subjects only in which admission was taken.
